Ist Doch Schön hier

28 SEPTEMBER – 4 OCTOBER
September 28 - October 4

It's nice here investigates the relationship between sound, solitude and connectedness, starting from the analogy between the listening practice of the field recordist and the hermit, approached via the concept of dwelling. Both take their time and immerse themselves in an environment, making a place their own without claiming ownership: the hermit as a methodology. Based on field recordings, text and image, the work explores how sound shapes the connection with the specific environment of Spitsbergen and the Onsernone Valley in Switzerland.

Alongside these recordings, textual and visual materials are linked as part of an extensive listening practice. Excerpts from literature, historical sources, and other texts on isolation are related to the locations. Video is approached similarly, the camera is used to capture moments of attention, framing details, textures, and durations that resonate with the idea of dwelling. Together, these elements form a layered live composition in which sound, text, and image alternate.
