Leonce and Lena

Prince Leonce of the boring kingdom of Popo must marry Lena of Pipi, a princess he does not know. Together with his friend Valerio, he flees to Italy. On the way, they meet the princess without realising who she is. Without knowing from each other who they are, both royal children fall in love.

An existential comedy full of confusing feelings and events.

Review

"Leonce and Lena is simple and frivolous little story that can be a good metaphor for our existence in a rich country in the early third millennium. The main characters are beset by a complex mix of confusing feelings. Büchner juxtaposes themes of suicide, resistance, love and political responsibility with the absurdity of human existence. The Roovers see in Leonce and Lena a new opportunity to approach this topic so close to their hearts in a totally different way."
