Building bridges between different artistic worlds and making opera and music theatre accessible to young and old, that is what WALPURGIS is strong at. We therefore initiated a two-year intercultural laboratory involving 13 young people from Antwerp and 18 young people from Marseille. As socially and culturally diverse as this group is, they have one thing in common: their passion for theatre.

Both groups of young people have strong links to the professional theatre world: Theatre Workshop NEST has been in residence at theFENIKS, our Mortsel workshop, since 2013, and Le Groupe des 15 follows under the wings of Compagnie Vol Plané a three-year theatre course in La Gare Franche In Marseille.

2nd stage: 8-14 April 2017
Last year, a first acquaintance take place between Belgian and French youngsters. This year, young people from NEST will travel to La Gare Franche in Marseille to spend another week working with young people from Le Groupe des 15 around Sophocles' Antigone.
