WELCOME to the WONDERFUL WORLD of WALPURGIS & guests

Surprising opening speech by Jeroen Olyslaegers

Daphne, libretto reading #9 - WALPURGIS

Both the shepherd boy Leukippos and the sun god Apollo are madly in love with the chaste virgin Daphne. Leukippos, her childhood friend, is immediately rejected. Apollo, dressed as a shepherd, is initially more successful. Only he messes everything up when he kisses her with a little too much gusto.

Жук (the beetle) - a hymn to the child - WALPURGIS (Judith Vindevogel, Eurudike De Beul, Amparo Cortés, Barbara Baltussen & Stefaan Degand)

Judith Vindevogel, Eurudike De Beul, Amparo Cortés, Barbara Baltussen and Stefaan Degand put their heads together to present a programme that interweaves classical songs by Mussorgsky, Mahler, de Falla, flamenco singing and poems by Toon Tellegen, among others, into a hymn to the child.

Reviews

Musical theatre has long since ceased to be a matter for distinguished ladies and gentlemen in soirée. Just ask actress Evelien Bosmans, video artist Mikio Saito or soprano Judith Vindevogel, who, during the FENIKS FESTIVAL, will unhinge the genre and prove how fresh contemporary music theatre can sound.
