......................................................

The bestseller We, the Drowned by Danish writer Carsten Jensen was the inspiration for a adventurous musical theatre project.

Out of a desire to form a small but very diverse community in the run-up to this performance, we set up a reading together group in Mortsel and Ostend. Because reading together is a bit like travelling together, right?

......................................................

For 10 months, we read to each other from the book once a week. We took the roles of Captain Madsen, the sailor's widow Klara Friis, her son Knud Erik and the seagull killer Herman Frandsen. We tried to defy the storms we were caught in and keep ourselves afloat in a world that was changing rapidly and hitting us harder and harder.

In August, we travelled with the two reading groups to Marstal To meet the writer.
