Can I ask you what drives you to such places? Compassion I said. Outrage. To show us here in our little cosy corner of the planet what's going on out there. Erwin Mortier in Jerusalem Revisited

Crusader Tancredi recognises too late the Moorish warrior Clorinda with whom he is in love, and kills her in a duel. Torquato Tasso had a narrator report on this duel in his text. In the monologue Jerusalem Revisited Erwin Mortier explores the motivations of Mr T. -a man of Word and Image- who years later returns to the place where Tancredi and Clorinda fought each other. This monologue is combined with a sung interpretation of Claudio Monteverdi's masterpiece Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda and choreography by Roberto Olivan.
